'The Cross Roads of
the World' is what Panama City has been
referred to and you do not have to look
to deep to see why. The Canal joins
the Atlantic and Pacific together and
the 450,000 residents of the city who
have once all been travelers and decided
to stay make it a real crossroads. The
City as as cosmopolitan as it will get
in Central America and there is a great
buzz to the city.

The city itself can
only be described as a mix between,
Madrid, Miami, Rio and a bit of Honk
Kong and also a slither of Paris in
the Casco Viejo sector of town. The
name Panama comes from the native Indian
meaning "an abundance of fish"
and with 2 coasts it is easy to see
why. You can never miss the fish platters
on the menu wherever you go. Due to
the diverse culture of Panama City you
will find nightlife and restaurants
from all over the world. If you want
to dance salsa, flamenco or just break
dance Panama has all of this. The restaurants
range from Indian to French, to Chinese
to Lebanese. There is something for
everyone in Panama City and this is
why it is such a fantastic city.
If you are looking
for a good deal on electronics and many
other goods then Panama is the 'bargainers
mecca' as Panamanians love to bargain.
Due to the numerous free trade regions
in the country it means that bargaining
is second nature to any Panamanian.
One of the main attractions
to Panama City is of course one of the
7 wonders of the modern worlds, The
Panama Canal. The canal stretches from
the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast
and stretches about 51 miles long. Many
people are very impressed when they
first see the canal as they are expecting
a straight cement river way, where as
the canal move through the jungle like
a snake. The best place to get a view
of the canal is the Soberania National
Park above Panama City where you can
join the vultures that circle the hill.
From the park you can see the boats
waiting to enter the canal and also
you can watch boats move from lock to
lock. The Panama Canal is truly magnificent.
