In 1999 The US Military
left Panama and all the land they occupied
became available to buy. The Military
owned hugh amount of land in the suburbs
of Panama City and many people are now
staring to buy these large pieces of
land and developing them into residential
and commercial areas.
For instance the area
of Albrook which used to be Albrook
airforce base is now home to some beautiful
suburban houses that are surrounded
by parks, open green space, beautiful
gardens and schools. Therefore these
areas are great to buy if you want to
be close to the City but do not want
to live within it.
The area of Albrook
is very up and coming and many areas
are being developed into shopping centers.
Currently you can visit the cinema,
go food shopping, shop for clothes and
much much more. Also from Albrook you
can fly anywhere in Panama and even
up to Costa Rica!!
Clayton has the Ciudad
del Saber (city of knowledge) which
is now a tax free area however it used
to be a US military base. Today the
area is used as an educational area
for business development and ILISA a
Spanish speaking school recently moved
there/
