Misc Information

So you want to know more about Panama, we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions that customers ask us and produced an easy to use guide below.

If you do not find what you are looking for here please call us on 0207-193-3930 or e-mail us and we will be happy to answer any questions.

What is the voltage in Panama?

The Voltage in Panama is variable between 110V or 220V however UK plugs will not fit into Panama plug sockets. In order to use UK plugs you may have to get a step down plug from 240v to 120v as just an adapter will not work. But do not worry as most appliances are provided by the hotels.

How much do I tip?

Tipping is very much part of the culture in Panama due to the US influence and 10% on top of the bill is normally enough.

What side of the road do they drive on?

Not the same side as the UK, Panamanians drive on the right hand side of the roads, so get used to changing gear with the door! Driving in Panama is much more a pleasant experience than most Central American Countries however we would always recommend private transfers.

Is there any cultural things I should be aware of?

As long as you treat the country and the people with respect everything will be fine. Women may get some attention from men but should just keep walking because if you react it will make matters worse.

What are Panama's normal business hours?

In Panama the business hours are the same as most the world 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Panama does not move with daylight savings so can between -5 - -6 hours behind. Most financial institutions are open Monday - Friday.
